Summary: | Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is a potentially curative therapy for a wide variety of malignant and nonmalignant conditions, but the development of graft-versus-host disease after transplantation may cause significant morbidity and mortality. The updated National Institutes of Health Consensus Development Project on Criteria for Clinical Trials in Chronic Graft-versus-Host Disease (cGVHD) [1] clarified and built upon the 2005 NIH Consensus Conference criteria for diagnosing and scoring the severity of chronic GVHD [2]. The purpose of these guidelines is to create uniformity in clinical trials, to guide treatment, and to facilitate biomarker studies. |
