Summary:Heterogeneous photocatalysis is an advanced oxidation process which has been the subject of a huge amount of studies related to air cleaning and water purification. This chapter examines the photocatalytic performances of TiO sub( 2) nanotube arrays made by anodic oxidation of titanium in fluoride-based electrolytes. The effects of different parameters on photocatalytic activites were investigated, such as geometric characteristics, crystal structure, the initial pH value of solution, and the present of hydrogen peroxide. In order to further enhance the photocatalytic activites of TiO sub( 2) nanotube arrays, new-geometry TiO sub( 2) nanotube arrays were systematically investigated. Furthermore, benefiting from its semiconducting nature and distinctive through-hole structure, here we also showed the novel applications of open-ended TiO2 nanotube membranes on flow-through photocatalysis and nanoreactor.
