Summary: | Experts implemented a large-scale radon assessment from 1995-98 to evaluate the radon concentrations found in Greek dwellings and the exposure of the Greek population to radon. The analysis was implemented using etched track detectors. A total of 1277 samples was considered in the project. Findings indicated that residential potential alpha energy concentration values fell in the range of 0.024-8.0 WLM per year. Effective doses were found to fall in the range of 0.09-28.0 mSv. Researchers concluded that the mean lifetime risk for the Greek population due to Rn was 0.4%. |
