Summary:Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) allows transmission of data with high data rates and it has the ability to cope with severe channel conditions without complex equalization filters. However large Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR) is considered as one of the most critical problems in the OFDM systems and a lot of techniques have been proposed to reduce PAPR. In this paper, we propose two methods to reduce PAPR, one is using parity check coding technique (PCC) and the other is parity check coding selected mapping (PCC-SLM) technique. With parity check coding technique, the parity bit is added to the original source information and mapping has been done to the corresponding message sequence that achieves good error correction performance and is used to lower the PAPR of the transmitted signal. In PCC-SLM technique, data position permutation and phase rotation are used such that the performance of PAPR reduction is shown. The simulation results show that PAPR can be significantly reduced by implementing PCC-SLM technique in the OFDM system. [PUBLICATION ABSTRACT]
