Summary: | In vitro antimicrobial screening of a marine ascidian Trididemnum clinids, collected from Tuticorin, southeast coast of India, against selected clinical isolates of bacteria was conducted in this study. The crude methanol extract was more active exhibiting a broad spectrum antibacterial activity than that of the crude ethyl acetate extract against each of the microbe tested. Maximum inhibition zone (16 mm) was observed against Bacillus subtilis in crude methanol extract of T. clinids and the minimum inhibition zone (1 mm) was observed against Vibrio cholera in ethyl acetate extract, whereas no activity was observed against Proteus mirabilis and P. vulgaris in the crude ethyl acetate extract.
