Summary: | Indian aloe, a perennial shrub, is gaining importance as commercial crop in Rajasthan due to its medicinal value. Leaf spot an important disease of Indian aloe incited by Curvularia lunata was observed in severe form at Jobner (Jaipur) and nearby area. For the management of the disease different fungicides, plant extract and bioagents were tested against the pathogen in vitro. Among the fungicides tested by poisoned food technique, mancozeb was found as the best effective in inhibiting the mycelial growth followed by carbendazim and companion. Among plant extracts tested, NSKE was found as the most effective in inhibiting the mycelial growth of Curvularia lunata and it was followed by garlic clove. Bael plant extract was observed to be least effective. In general, as the concentration of fungicides and plant extracts increased, the inhibition of mycelial growth also increased. Biocontrol agent Trichoderma harzianum was found most effective in zone inhibition against Curvularia lunata followed by Trichoderma viride and Aspergillus niger in dual culture plate method. |
