Summary:In the assessed Pd--Si phase diagram, the phase boundaries and the reaction temperatures are based on experimental work and on the thermodynamic calculations described in the present evaluation. Boundaries selected from the modeling calculations are depicted in the assessed diagram as dashed lines. The equilibrium solid phases present in the Pd--Si system are: the terminal solid solutions, (Pd) and (Si); the equiatomic phase PdSi, which melts congruently at 972 deg C and is an equilibrium phase between 972-824 deg C; the phase Pd sub 2 Si, which melts congruently at 1331 deg C and has a composition range of 33.0-34.2 at.% Si at room temperature; the phase Pd sub 2 Si', which is a low-temperature polymorph of Pd sub 2 Si (T < 1090 deg C); the peritectically forming phase Pd sub 3 Si; the peritectically forming phase Pd sub 9 Si sub 2 ; and the phase Pd sub 5 Si, which melts congruently at 818 deg C. Special points of the assessed diagram are listed. Graphs, Phase diagrams. 28 ref.--AA
