Summary:The advent of the British in Sindh represented not only a transfer of sovereignty from the local ruling dynasty to the foreign Colonial rule, but also provided exposure of the tribal and feudal system to the emergent capitalist system. Actually Sindh was a country with unlimited possibilities and strategic importance. The Lubb-i Tarikh-i Sindh gives an account of land settlements and revenue assessment, canal and water supply system, development of trade, commerce and institutionalization of modem education system, the executive branch, organization of the police department and judicial courts etc. The British-Colonial period in Sindh is significant for its richness in historical literature in the form of contemporaneous histories and the memoirs in English and Sindhi written by a number of European as well as local Muslim and Hindu scholars.
