Summary: | The aim was to analyze the asymmetry between dominant and non-dominant leg, using unilateral test jump with college students who have a different pattern of weekly sports. 129 university students were divided into groups according to the pattern of weekly physical activity: low physical activity (LPAG; n = 44; 20.9 ± 2.6 years; 175.0 ± 8.1 cm; 71.2 ± 12.1 kg), average physical activity (APAG; n = 46; 20.7 ± 1.9 years; 174.1 ± 7.0 cm; 68.9 ± 9.1 kg) and high physical activity (HPAG; n = 39; 20.7 ± 1.4 years; 174.8 ± 7.5 cm; 68.9 ± 9.1 kg). All subjects performed unilateral jump test: squat jump (SJ) countermovement jump (CMJ), triple hop test for distance (THD) and crossover hop test for distance (COHD). The results indicate differences in the strength of dominant and nondominant leg in HPAG: SJ (p < 0.01), CMJ (p < 0.05) and COHD (p < 0.01). No significant differences in asymmetry index between groups. In the LPAG more subjects at high risk of injury to the lower extremity. |
