Summary:The triazole Sch 39304 was compared with itraconazole and ketoconazole in the treatment of experimental paracoccidioidomycosis in mice and hamsters. In the hamster model, ketoconazole at 80 mg/kg, itraconazole at 10 and 20 mg/kg and Sch 39304 at 10 mg/kg were equally effective. In the mouse model, ketoconazole at 100 mg/kg and Sch 39304 at 10 mg/kg were effective in controlling the infection. In both models only Sch 39304 at 10 mg/kg achieved sterilization of the infectious foci.
