Summary:The 2005 recommendation and law set forth by New York Governor George Pataki created the Berger Commission. The purpose of this study was to measure if the business community of Erie County understood the intent of the Berger Commission, and if local businesses have felt any impact from the recommendations set forth in December 2006, and the overall confidence and business community belief in the local health care system. A web based survey tool was designed and was distributed using an email invitation via Survey Monkey. Results suggest that although the business leaders who participated in the study reported concerns regarding the state of the economy, inadequacies of the WNY health care system and sky rocketing health care costs, many reported a lack of knowledge regarding the Berger Commission.
