Summary:An abstract of a study by Poole et al determining if ergot alkaloids from endophyte-infected fescue reduces blood flow to the reproductive organs thus hindering reproductive functions in cattle is presented. Reduction in blood flow to the reproductive organs during the critical period of maternal recognition of pregnancy may contribute to the reduced pregnancy rates associated with fescue toxicosis.
