Arginine vasopressin stimulates mesangial cell proliferation by activating the epidermal growth factor receptor

The potent vasoconstrictor arginine vasopressin (AVP) is also a mitogen for mesangial cells. Treatment with AVP decreased transit time through the cell cycle.
