Summary:This work deals with the antibacterial activity of larvae of Galleria mellonella. Protein fractions with antibacterial activity have been purified from hemolymph by ion-exchange chromatography and gel-electrophoresis. The mass-spectrometric analysis of fractions showed the presence of a peptide of 5627 Da. Probably, this peptide determines the antibacterial activity of hemolymph.
