Summary:To prevent patient's infections caused by medical devices, anesthesiologists should understand "Infection Level" and the methods for washing, disinfecting and sterilizing of the devices used in the operating theater. There is evidence that failure to properly disinfect or sterilize equipment carried risk for person-to-person transmission of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and ended in patient's injury. Disinfection and sterilization are essential to ensure that medical and surgical instruments do not transmit infectious pathogens to patients. We also must know that some devices are damaged by disinfectants or sterilizing agents. Cleaning is the removal of visible soil from objects and surfaces and normally is accomplished manually or mechanically using water with detergents or enzymatic products. The authorities concerned regurate the reuse of single use medical devices.
