Summary:The efficacy of the Gepon immunomodulator was studied in 36 patients with ulcerative colitis (UC) having distal lesions in the resistant form. Taking into account the fact that immunological abnormalities play the main role in UC pathogenesis, the drug with immunomodulatory action was used for overcoming resistance to basic anti-inflammatory drugs. The clinical and immunological reaction to the used drugs was found to be ambiguous. Most of the patients (83.3%) had clinical and endoscopic amelioration after taking Gepon and managed to overcome the resistance to basic anti-inflammatory drugs.
