Summary: | Advantages and disadvantages of enzymatic assays of total cholesterol content in human blood serum are reviewed. Factors, affecting these assays are discussed: specificity of the enzymes used (cholesterol esterase and cholesterol oxidase), conditions of analysis and composition of the reaction mixture, interference with components of blood serum. Adaptation of the enzymatic assays of total cholesterol estimation for various types of biochemical analyzers, including systems containing immobilized enzymes, is considered. |
