Summary:Gas chromatography of total lipids from blood serum exhibits about 40% error in diagnosis of liver functional insufficiency. Combination of gas chromatography with quantitative thin-layer chromatography and subsequent gas chromatographic analysis of the lipid fractions obtained enabled to increase by 25% the efficiency of diagnoses not only of icteric but also of non-icteric forms of liver functional insufficiency. Simultaneous gas- thin-layer chromatographic analysis of total lipids will apparently improve the differential diagnosis of diseases accompanied by liver functional insufficiency; it permits also to study pathogenesis of impairments in lipid metabolism under conditions of liver functional insufficiency and of other pathologies.
