Summary:In the case report presented, we describe the Reichel syndrome-synovial chondromatosis. The disease is monoarticular, involves no trauma or inflammation, and tends to cause a build-up of floating cartilage. Its prognosis is good. On the basis of a review of the literature, we present its etiology, diagnosis, differential diagnosis and histology. For the initial treatment we recommend resection of the floating cartilage. If the disease occurs, we recommend synovectomy in addition.
