Summary:Spontaneous hematoma of the abdominal wall is an unusual event which has an aspecific symptomatology, common to other diseases. There are factors which create a predisposition to the formation of hematoma and others which trigger off this phenomenon. The paper reports 8 patients, aged between 35 and 85 years: predisposition, symptomatology, characteristics of hematoma and therapy are illustrated in a table. Diagnosis was generally made using ultrasonography and the prognosis was always benign.
