Summary:Repeated intranasal injections of increasing doses of bacterial lipopolysaccharide pyrogenal resulted in accumulation of numerous macrophages in the upper and middle parts of the mouse lungs; these macrophages were filled with leukocyte lysosomes. In these animals dilysosomal macrophages increased local resistance to the agent of enzootic ewe abortion and thus could change the lethal form of induced pneumonia into the nonlethal one.
