Summary:Mesenteric panniculitis is an extremely rare inflammatory condition of the adipose tissue of unknown etiology in which the mesentery is replaced with fibrosis. Knowledge of this rare syndrome should prevent any unwarranted aggressive therapy and help to use the clinical, radiological, and surgical sources to obtain the diagnosis. This paper is a review of symptomatology, pathology, treatment, and outcome of this disorder. A case report is described that presented with obstruction of the sigmoid colon.
