Summary:The integration of business and operational processes is today of major importance in a wide range of industries. The challenge is to seamlessly integrate software applications supporting business activities and field devices belonging to the plant floor. It requires to build Internet-scale distributed systems in complex, heterogeneous environments characterized by stringent requirements regarding security and evolution in particular. In order to meet these requirements, distributed architectures based on the service-oriented paradigm have been proposed. This paper argues that the service-oriented development is too technology-driven. We propose a reusable MDE approach for service development in power distribution industry where the developer focuses on application logic. The approach is currently tested for a service-platform based on the OSGi technology.
