Summary:A clinical correlation has been described between hemorrhage within plantar callus and diabetes mellitus. One hundred patients were examined for the presence of hemorrhage within plantar callus. Hemorrhage was rigidly defined to rule out hemorrhage attributed to causes other than diabetes mellitus. The presence of hemorrhage within callus was found to be more clinically prevalent in insulin-dependent diabetics than in those who were not insulin-dependent.
