Summary:The principal goal in the development of endodontic implants is to improve the stability of periodontally and traumatically compromised teeth. When excessive forces exist and periodontal conditions are suboptimal, however, the system breaks down and ultimately fails. We report such a failure, a sequela of which contributed to subsequent fracture of the mandible. The patient's hospital course and complications of treatment are discussed.
