Summary:BaO-B2O3-TiO2 system glass-ceramics based on beta-BaB2O4 and BaTiO3, with potential uses in electronics and electrical engineering, can be obtained by controlled crystallisation of glasses. The preparation and properties of BaO-B2O3-TiO2 system glasses containing between 20 and 50 mol% B2O3 were studied. The density, thermal expansion coefficient, microhardness, viscosity and hydrolytic stability of the glasses were determined. The glasses were also analysed by DTA. Variations in the properties with oxide glass composition are explained.
