Summary:Study area of the current contribution is Borsod hills in the Northern Hungarian Mountains, which consists of two small landscapes: Sajo valley and Putnok hills. Besides collecting data on flora and vegetation, traditional agricultural land use methods were also observed. Those habitats that preserved botanical values due to maintained land uses are presented with endangering factors and recommendations towards sustainability. Most valuable areas are hayfields, pastures, extensively cultivated orchards, extensively cultivated arable lands and mosaic-like agrarian habitats, on which 80 nature protected or rare plant species can be found. Even a new species for the Hungarian flora, Geum rivale L. was found during this research.
