Summary: | Directionally crystallised fibre-reinforced rods of eutectic boride compositions were fabricated with a round or oval cross section 14-16 mm in diameter and 150-200 mm long. The homogeneity of the structure and the high strength of the materials created enabled parts to be made with a small cross section (from 0.2 mm2 at a thickness of no more than 0.2 mm) and a long length (80-100 mm). The parts could be used directly in modern high-temperature equipment as a functional and structural components. 25 refs. |
