Summary:The FANP team recommended the first-of-a-kind installation of Geiger multi-disc screens based on a number of factors. First, using computational fluid dynamics models, FANP found that the Geiger multi-disc screens, developed in Europe for waste water treatment facilities, produce flow conditions similar to those for through flow screens. The Geiger design is also more robust and allows for a 250,000 gpm flow rate through each screen while eliminating debris carryover.
