Summary:A case study is presented with a diagnosis of hyperflexion sprain resulting from an acceleration automobile accident. Ligamentous tear and disc compression are frequent manifestations with a true hyperflexion sprain. The radiographic appearance of true hyperflexion sprain may be confused with that of paracervical muscle spasm. Correct diagnostic interpretation is essential in differentiating these two conditions so that proper therapeutic measures may be determined.
