Summary:Urinary cytology of a 64-year-old woman complaining of chronic cystitis revealed numerous neoplastic cells highly suggestive of a malignant lymphoma. Histologic examination of a polypoid endovesical tumor resected at operation showed a poorly differentiated lymphocytic lymphoma. Clinical, operative and pathologic staging demonstrated that the tumor originated in and was confined to vesical mucosa. The case repeats the typical features of primary malignant bladder lymphoma, as cited in the literature. Since the patient showed no signs of recurrence or other neoplastic localizations six years postoperatively, this case confirms the favorable prognosis of bladder lymphoma.
