Concentration of selected metals in normal and pathological human seminal plasma

The levels of zinc, ultrafilterable (UF) zinc, copper and manganese in normal and pathological (astheno-, azoo-, oligospermic) seminal plasma were measured by flameless atomic absorption. For ultrafiltrable zinc, a special method was used to treat Amikon membranes. A lower ultrafiltrable zinc level...

Summary:The levels of zinc, ultrafilterable (UF) zinc, copper and manganese in normal and pathological (astheno-, azoo-, oligospermic) seminal plasma were measured by flameless atomic absorption. For ultrafiltrable zinc, a special method was used to treat Amikon membranes. A lower ultrafiltrable zinc level was found in azoospermic and a lower manganese level in oligospermic seminal plasma. At this time the meaning of these results is unknown.
