Summary: | A small‐size printed antenna formed by a driven monopole integrated with a coupled‐fed strip for dual‐band long term evolution (LTE) operation is presented. The driven monopole contributes a resonant mode for the upper band of 2.6 GHz, and the coupled‐fed strip generates the lower band of 0.7 GHz. The coupled‐fed strip contains a meandered path which is short‐circuited to the system ground plane. The meandered path is used to provide sufficient length for low frequency resonance in a limited area of substrate. The proposed antenna has a small uniplanar structure of 50 × 10 mm2 for dual‐band LTE 700/2500 operation. Good radiation characteristics are obtained over the two operating bands. Details of antenna fine‐tuning are described, and results of fabricated prototype are discussed. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 59:823–827, 2017 |
