Summary:Mining activity and mining related industries contribute significantly to environmental degradation. Mining of mineral deposits led to the relocation of a large number of accompanying materials, which was accumulated in the anthropogenic forms as sewage sludge beds and heaps of waste material. Deposits are permanent source of contaminants, especially heavy metals, which are resistant and non-biodegradable pollutants and represent long-term load for environment. Cycle of heavy metals in the soil and water environment is manifested by specific vegetation which grows to the toxic substrate. Middle Spis region is long time known as area of intensive mining activity, focusing to the mining and smelting of copper and iron ores. The aim of the study was to determine the heavy metal content (Cu, As, Cd, Pb, Ni, Cr, Fe, Co) and describe flora composition in emission field of sewage sludge bed, situated in Slovinky cadastral area. In the emission field of sewage sludge bed, above the limit value of copper, chromium, arsenic and lead were determined and vegetation was represented by resistant species with wide ecological valence (Agrostis tenuis, Acetosa pratensis, Betula pendula).
