Summary:The results of a survey of the public and contract warehouse industry is presented. The research provides an overview of the extent of information utilization within the industry. Further, the results provide conformation of a proposed linkage between information technology and warehousing information technologies had significantly higher/better performance in the areas of quality improvements, cycle time reductions, and productivity improvements. Utilization of warehousing information technologies among the warehousing respondents was found to be low. However, there appears to be a realization that warehousing firms must invest in information technology to remain competitive.
