Summary:The case is reported of a 61-year-old man who developed shock-induced anterior ischaemic optic neuropathy (SIAION) after undergoing radical prostatectomy. Visual loss began on the third postoperative day. Only one other patient with SIAION after prostatectomy has been reported in the past. SIAION may result in fixed visual loss after radical prostatectomy and ophthalmic evaluation should not be delayed in patients with postoperative visual loss.
