Summary:The study aims to demonstrate the application of virtual prototyping in an industrial manufacturing process where damage occurrence needs to be analyzed. Examined subject is a temperature sensor that has been seriously deformed and does not perform its functions. Two main possibilities are examined as reasons for the damage – sensor design or manufacturing issues and problems in production line where the sensor is installed. These possibilities are evaluated through virtual prototyping of the damage that gives results used in subsequent calculations to quantify both variants. This is a good demonstration of application of information technologies, the core of Industry 4.0, and especially – simulations using virtual prototyping – for industrial problems, emerged in manufacturing process.
