Creating Opportunities for Developing Tourism in Calarasi Danube Region

Calarasi County is unique due to its special natural tourism background based on the Danube River which creates a picturesque landscape with many wild islets, with the Danube's main courses splitting into unique channels. We can also add the cultural and historical tourism potential, tributary to each of the historical periods in which the Romanian people evolved, evidence of each era being kept so far. The archaeological sites (that are very important both for our country and for Europe) and the representative historical monuments in the south of Romania should be mentioned. But, as for the reception structures and the tourists' possibility to travel, these are not properly turned to profit, in accordance to the existent tourism potential. Regarding tourism, the Council of Calarasi county and its structures aim to increase the role of the county at local and national level by enhancing its competitive advantages. Analyzing the tourism potential, the material and technical base and the tourist flow in Calara si between 1990-2014/2015, a Strategy for making the tourism product of Calarasi efficient will be developed within this article.
