Summary:This paper focuses on the recent developments in precision medicine (PM) and health informatics in the context of big data. PM aims to integrate a complete dataset gathered continually about a patient’s lifestyle, surrounding conditions influence on an individual, and genetics to propel scientific knowledge in these areas of diagnosis, intervention, drug management, and assure provision of suitable treatments. The proliferation of biomedical big data will impose many issues in terms of data security, privacy, and governance. Resolving these issues will discover the efficient and secure application of data in the medical sector. This article explores the prior research works and future openings associated with big data for precision medicine and delineating some of the key challenges that need to be resolved. This paper also illustrates how advanced computational platforms and tools could be employed for converting billions of datasets into diagnostics and accurate decisions for precision medicine with improved clinical quality.
