Summary:In accordance to the National Security Council (NSC) Directive concerning the coordination between responsible agencies and committee, the Malaysian government has established a national disaster management agency with the sole purpose to cater matters related to disaster in a fast, orderly, systematic and coordinated manner. Furthermore, coordination also involves the integration of technologies and modules from all relevant parties such as police, fire departments, civil defence, welfare and public health. Due to the lack of studies addressing the suitable design for disaster management support model that could complement disaster management policy, this research intends to present a solution, with Malaysia as the case study. This paper starts by identifying issues related to disaster management support and thoroughly reviews the coordination policy of disaster management globally and locally in Malaysia. Qualitative method was chosen as the main methodology and been implemented throughout this study in determining the accurate process of disaster management in Malaysia by expert personnel. As for disaster management related policy, a content analysis method has been done through existing documentation. For conclusion, this paper will then propose a design for disaster management support model that complements the policy of disaster management, specifically for Malaysia.
