Properties of high-oxidation-state copper oxides

A rapid mass-spectrometric technique is used to monitor oxygen mobility during weight loss under heating, and catalytic efficiency for CO oxidation, for complex-oxides containing Cu super(III). Compounds with the perovskite, K sub(2)NiF sub(4) and Sr sub(3)Ti sub(2)O sub(7) structures were studied....

Summary:A rapid mass-spectrometric technique is used to monitor oxygen mobility during weight loss under heating, and catalytic efficiency for CO oxidation, for complex-oxides containing Cu super(III). Compounds with the perovskite, K sub(2)NiF sub(4) and Sr sub(3)Ti sub(2)O sub(7) structures were studied. The perovskite La sub(3)Ba sub(3)Cu sub(6)O sub(14+ delta ), with the largest A-site cations, showed a strong catalytic effect, and also contained much more mobile oxygen than the K sub(2)NiF sub(4) and Sr sub(3)Ti sub(2)O sub(7).
