Summary: | Organizational issues have attracted a great deal of attention in logistics. However, developments such as expanding use of information technology and outsourcing call into question conventional assumptions of past research. A framework for the structural properties of logistics organizations, including supply chains, is proposed. Such as framework could be used in research on the organization of logistics and would facilitate comparability among studies. A contingency theory approach is recommended to yield insights into the complex relationships between logistics strategy, structure and performance. |
