Summary: | The night is a dangerous time for drivers and pedestrians alike. Over half of all motor vehicle fatalities and nearly two out of three pedestrian deaths occur after dark. A technology Cadillac calls Night Vision could improve a driver's odds of avoiding an accident. Scouring the road in front of a car, looking for the infrared heat signature of a person, animal, or other obstacle, it extends the range a driver can "see" by as much as 500%. The other part of the package is a head-up display, or HUD, projector mounted in the instrument panel just behind the steering wheel. |
