Summary:A new European directive that adapts the area of the major industrial accidents prevention was adopted in 2015 and the EU member states have to transpose this directive to their legal guidelines. The participating parties in Slovakia had an extensive discussion about this topic and the current law is the result of their consensus. The directive has been valid for two years and a few problems from the point of view of the state administration and enterprises have been identified. This article presents the basic conclusions after the guideline’s implementation in the Slovak Republic.
