Summary: | The research program consisted a series of nine tests in which the authors used three types of soil: non-cohesive soil consisting of ballast respectively sand and cohesive soil consisting of hard clay. For each series, three variants were carried out: without reinforcement, with reinforcement consisting of two layers of geogrids, respectively two layers of geocells. The foundation cushions was carried out in the laboratory, in a steel box with a plexiglass screen of 1.0 m x 1.0 m x 1.5 m. A foundation was placed at the top on which were applied centered static vertical loads, so that on the surface of the foundation the recorded pressures to be up to 4 daN/cm2. The results that will be presented will highlight the insertion of reinforcement in the foundation cushions that will lead, in all cases, to substantial reductions in the deformation of the foundation soil and also lower ground deformations at all levels of reinforcement layout. |
