Summary:The problem of the traditional periodic inspection method for 500 kV transmission line protection devices is analyzed, and a new simplified periodical inspection method is introduced. Combined with the traditional periodic inspection demand for 500 kV transmission line protection devices, the working principle and automatic test strategies are discussed, as well as the function application. Application in the practical power system shows that the simplified approach is valuable to be widely popularized for reducing the inadvertent mal-operation and improving the efficiency of periodical inspection.
