Summary:This paper describes the age structure of the commercial catches of anchovy (Engraulis mordax ), for the period 1974 to 1989, in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico. A decrease in the adult population was observed, with an increase in the 0 age group of the catches. A similar situation was observed with the mean size of the individuals, with a tendency to decrease in time. A closed fishing season is proposed from September to March.
