Summary:This article is to elucidate the indications of horizontal advancement osteotomy of the mandible or bone grafting for microgenia. After understanding the characteristics of a patient's inferior one-third facial malformation through physical and cephalometric measurement, we correct the malformation of moderate or serious degree with osteotomy genioplasty. Eight patients received the operation and obtained good results. Understanding the characteristics of microgenia and choosing a rational method is the prerequisite for a good operative result.
