Influence of hormone replacement therapy (17 beta-OH estradiol and medroxyprogesterone acetate) on plasma concentration of prothrombin fragment F1+2 and thrombin-antithrombin III complex in postmenopausal woman

The influence of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) on coagulation system has not been completely explained yet. We measured plasma levels of prothrombin fragment F1+2 and thrombin-antithrombin III complex before the treatment and after 6 and 12 months of HRT in 116 postmenopausal women HRT considere...

Summary:The influence of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) on coagulation system has not been completely explained yet. We measured plasma levels of prothrombin fragment F1+2 and thrombin-antithrombin III complex before the treatment and after 6 and 12 months of HRT in 116 postmenopausal women HRT considered of transdermal estradiol and oral medroxyprogesterone acetate. We observed no statistically significant differences in plasma levels of the above coagulation markers before and during the treatment.
