Summary:The aim of this study is to determine the growth characteristics of carp (Cyprinus carpio) population in Isikli Lake (Turkey). A total of 158 carp specimens were caught between January and December 2004 and the sex ratio male:female was estimated as 0.92:1.00. Fork lengths of the specimens varied from 11.8-80.0 cm and total weights varied from 36.0-9700.0 g. The majority of the individuals (53.2%) were represented by 21.0-41.0 cm length groups. The age of the investigated specimens ranged from I to XIV age groups. Length-weight relationships was found as W=0.035*L super(2.841) and growth parameters were; L sub( infinity )= 108.4, k=0.101 and t sub(o)= -0.221 for combined sex. The mean condition factor was found as 1.920.
